Edward L. Hill, 59, of Chandler Road, North Providence, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Fatima Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia (Renaud) Hill. Born in Milton, Massachusetts, he was a son of Eleanor (Flood) Hill of Charlestown and the late Edward C. Hill. He had lived in Smithfield before moving to North Providence 28 years ago. He began his teaching career at the Smithfield High School over 28 years ago. He was the Science Department Chairman before becoming the Technology Coordinator for the Smithfield School Department. He was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degree. He was a founding member and Past President of NE Magic Collectors, a member of the Society of American Magicians, the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Order of Merlin and was the Past President of the RI Society of Magicians. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his children, David and Danielle Hill, both of North Providence, and his brothers; George Hill and his wife,Cathy of South Kingstown and Charles Hill and his wife, Nancy, of Weymouth, MA. STOUGHTON – Dorothy J. (Whitaker) Hermanson, wife of the late Erle L. Hermanson, died at the Blue Hills Alzheimer’s Care Center of Stoughton on April 9, 2013. She was 87. Born in East Providence, “Dottie” grew up on Lincoln St. in Seekonk, the daughter of the late William J. and Mabel B. (Dyson) Whitaker. Educated in Seekonk and E. Providence schools, she was a 1943 graduate of East Providence High School. A retired secretary, Mrs. Hermanson was employed by MUPAC in Brockton for several years, retiring in 1993. Survivors include a son, Erle L. Hermanson, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Middleboro; two daughters, Carol A. Durden and her husband Hank of Brockton and Diane L. Richardson of Raynham; a brother, William J. Whitaker, Jr. of Ocala, FL; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late James S. and Robert D. Whitaker. Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, April 13th at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Born in Pawtucket, to the late Peter and Mary Niemiec. She was she was one of nine children, including her identical twin sister, the late Anna T. Guest. She was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and active in Grange. She was a long-time member of St. Thomas’ Church in Taunton and more recently St. Mark’s in Riverside. She is survived by her children: the Rev. Armand LaVallee and his wife, Alison of Charlotte, NC, the Rev. Donald Lavallee and his wife, Terri of Safety Harbor, FL and Paula Zaniboni and her husband, Norman of Wenham, MA, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, her siblings: Josephine Johnston and Barbara Hurley both of Pawtucket. A memorial service will be held on her 100th birthday, Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11am in the Church of the Epiphany, 1336 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. Woodcock, 70, of Rumford, passed away at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence on Thursday, February 7, 2013 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with stomach cancer for the past 10 months. He was the husband of Muriel A. (Carosi) Woodcock for 44 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Thomas F. and Bertha (Kraigenow) Woodcock. Rollie was the owner of Rollie’s Skate Shop, Rumford for 36 years. During his career, he sharpened skates at the Rhode Island Auditorium for the RI Reds; PC Friars men and women teams; Brown University men and women teams and many other college teams, as well as local area youth teams; high schools and men’s leagues. Besides his wife, he leaves his beloved children, Mori and her husband, Scott Dorval and Rollie, Jr. and his wife, Debra (McCallum) Woodcock all of North Attleboro; his precious grandchildren, Sydney Rose Dorval, Audrey Elizabeth Woodcock and Jack Roland Woodcock; his siblings, Thomas (Tina) Woodcock of Hebron, CT, Edward Woodcock of Warwick, Marilyn (William) Nobrega of Pawtucket and the late Carol Woodcock. She was the wife of the late Francis A. McCabe. Born in Cumberland, a daughter of the late William J. and Emma G. (McCauley) Sword, she had lived in Rumford for the past 53 years. Marion was a 1938 graduate of Cumberland High School and a 1942 graduate of Rhode Island College of Education, now Rhode Island College. Marion was very active at St. Michael & All Angels Church, now the Church of the Epiphany in Rumford, where she served on the vestry, was an usher and Bazaar Chairman. She was also very active for 40 years with the RI Chapter of the March of Dimes where she was the State Volunteer Advisor and started the Knitting Hats For Newborns Program. She was a former member of Wannamoisett Country Club. Marion is survived by six children, Carol M. Correia of Huntington Beach, CA, Barbara M. Newton of Seekonk, MA, Paul B. McCabe of Thailand, Joan D. McCabe of New York City, NY, Christine M. Tomlinson of Newburyport, MA and Melanie M. Martin of Houston, TX; thirteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Her Requiem Eucharist will be held TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12 at 11 A.M. in the Church of the Epiphany, 1336 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pawtucket. Several nieces and nephews and a multitude of beloved relatives and friends to fondly cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her brothers Edward, Clifford, Jr., Perry and Charles and her sister Elizabeth Owens.
